French Provincial

This may be my favorite color yet!  It's painted Paris Grey with a wash of Graphite.  I saw the technique at Maison Decor and thought it was beautiful.  So I gave it a try and this was the result.

I did the same thing with the mirror frame.  The mirror itself is 1/4" thick and the frame is solid wood.  It weighs a ton!  I painted the hardware black and waxed the dresser with clear wax.  It would be beautiful in any room of the house.

Bold Blue

 
I used AS Aubusson Blue on this one.  It's nice and bold and I love it!  I sanded the top down to sand all the scratches out and used dark wax on it.  The size of this piece makes it really versatile.  It would look great in an entryway, bedroom, as a buffet, or even a changing table in a nursery.

My New Scale & Some Furniture

I found this beauty on CL today not far from me.  I paid $20 which I think was probably a pretty good deal.  The color is almost identical to Annie Sloan's Duck Egg.  It will live on my buffet when it's all done.
 
 
I've been working on some custom pieces, but I'm almost done.  Then it will be time to start on my newest finds.  Pretty sure I'm going blue with these.

Re-did a re-do and free subway art

As I looked at this piece day after day I liked it but thought it needed something.  Since I don't have anything I'm ready to paint at the momement and I LOVE doing Union Jacks that's what I did.  Using AS Pure White and painters tape I painted on the flag.  I also painted a Union Jack on the pillow you see that I had laying around.  The frame on top of the dresser was a solid wooden, covered in dust frame I picked up at an estate sale.  Painted it with French Linen and highlighted with Pure White.  I went to this website and printed out the London subway art and taped it to the back of the frame!  I love free instant art. :)

I'm in Love!


I spotted this empire style solid oak buffet on CL listed for $75!  I was so excited I couldn't email fast enough.  The gentleman called me the next morning to tell me I was the first to email him so I could come look at it.  Yea!!  It was about an hour away, but well worth it.  He had found it in the dumpster when he moved into the house and had to glue the doors back together. The curly things in front of the mirror were also missing the ends.  I took it to a furniture repair shop and was told it was from around 1910 to 1920 and it would be around $185 to repair the curly things.  I had to re-do the glue job on the doors and fill with wood filler - that's all on the inside of the door and won't show once I'm done with it.  My husband thinks he can fix the curly parts,  I think I am going to stain the top and door and drawer fronts, then paint the rest.  I even found a key that fits the drawers and doors at my favorite antique store. I know I am diminishing the value of the piece by not leaving it alone, but since it's for me and will be with me until I pass it down to one of my kids that's ok! I can't wait until it's done and sitting in my dining room. :)


Just love this old chunky furniture :)


Replaced the original wooden knobs with the crystal ones below (I love to add a little sparkle)


Pretty sure I'm going to line the drawers and bottom of the cabinet with this paper:
